As Netanyahu arrived to the United Nations, elected officials, celebrities, and hundreds of New Yorkers participated in a mass anti-war sit-in outside of the UN calling on the world to stop arming Israel and to end the genocide in Gaza.

Just as Netanyahu arrived at the United Nations, 400 of us poured into the intersection right outside, wearing matching white t-shirts that read “Jews say fund people not bombs,” and crying out “Let Gaza live!”

With the eyes of the world on NYC, together we disrupted and intervened to remind the world that Netanyahu — Israel’s chief architect of genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and wars of aggression — could only carry out these crimes with the full backing of the U.S.

Our protest made headlines at major media outlets across the United States and around the world. See more below.

“We’re here not just to oppose Netanyahu but to say stop arming Israel and the genocide,” Stefanie Fox, the executive director of Jewish Voice for Peace, a progressive group, said in an interview. “We demand an end to the impunity and complicity right here.”

Hannah Einbinder Was Arrested Protesting Netanyahu, New York Magazine, September 24, 2026

“As a Jew, as an American, and as a human it is my moral responsibility to stand against the genocide of Palestinians by the Israeli government,” Einbinder said while being arrested, per a press release from Jewish Voice for Peace. “I am proudly risking arrest today because I believe this moment calls on each and every one of us to speak out and demand the U.S. stop funding genocide.”

Netanyahu Came to New York. New Yorkers Were Ready for Him, The Nation, September 25, 2026

“It feels so powerful. We see our numbers continue to grow. Increasing numbers of public figures are willing to take the risk of standing up. We are not willing to let it go on with our tax dollars funding it and American bombs falling on Gazans without standing up and putting our bodies on the line to make it end”

Netanyahu’s speech at UN spurs protests in New York City: ‘Let Gaza live’, The Guardian, September 24, 2026

“What we made clear today is that New Yorkers, including Jewish New Yorkers, do not want war criminals and the architects of genocide coming to our city. This is something that we have been saying for years, especially over the last three years during which Israel has killed over 75,000 Palestinians in this genocide – and to be clear that is a severe undercount.”

On the Ground, Literally, With the Celebrities Who Were Arrested Protesting Netanyahu, Rolling Stone, September 24, 2026

“It feels deeply incoherent to try to live a normal life — making dinner with a full fridge, while aid trucks are stopped at the Gazan border,” Stefanie Fox, the executive director of JVP told me on the sidewalk, as a line of bicycle cops made a ring around the knot of protesters still sitting in the street. “Being here feels like the only coherent place to be.”

“Stop Arming Israel”: 100+ Arrested at Jewish Voice for Peace Sit-In Outside Netanyahu U.N. Speech, Democracy Now!, September 25, 2026

STEFANIE FOX: It’s the very least we can do in this moment, as this three years of genocide rages on, backed fully by U.S. government. And the complicity starts right here in the U.S. It’s absolutely our responsibility to demand that that impunity end and be replaced with accountability.
