Israel Bonds can’t be sold in Europe — for now.

Last month Luxembourg announced that it would no longer support the sale of European Israel Bonds.
That means Israel Bonds can no longer be sold anywhere in Europe — for now.
To gain access to European investors, an EU member state must approve Israel to issue its bonds. Luxembourg’s move leaves no willing countries. Last year, EU Israel Bonds sales provided $2.5 billion in unrestricted loans to the Israeli military and government — unrestricted loans to weather the economic fallout of genocide and apartheid.
And this month, 12 countries including the UK, Canada, and France announced sanctions and trade restrictions on products from illegal Israeli settlements.
The decision comes in response to the sharp uptick in Israeli settler violence across the Occupied West Bank, with over 1,400 settler attacks carried out so far this year alone and thousands of Palestinians displaced from their homes as a direct result of this violence.
Years of grassroots campaigning to stop the flow of international dollars to Israeli apartheid and genocide are starting to pay off…
Divestment campaigning in the U.S.
Palestine solidarity organizers aren’t just racking up wins across Europe. In the U.S., too, there are over a billion dollars invested in Israel Bonds — and our people are fighting day in and day out to stop the flow of those dollars to Israel and reinvest that money in our communities here at home.
From Illinois to Louisiana to Ohio to New York, JVP organizers are fighting for divestment from Israel Bonds. As you read this, 14 different JVP chapters and pods leading or helping lead 10 different Break the Bonds campaigns across the country.
In the last 10 months, JVP members and partners have won over $100 million divested or not reinvested in Israel Bonds.
- In December 2025, Minnesota, Michigan, and North Carolina all divested and did not reinvest around $27 million dollars in Israel Bonds.
- In March 2026, after over a year of community campaigning, Maryland’s State Retirement and Pension System divested $63 million dollars from Israel Bonds — 85% of its holdings from a year ago, and the largest-ever state level divestment of its kind.
- In June 2026, the state treasury of Louisiana moved not to reinvest $10 million in Israel Bonds.
Also in June, United Auto Workers (UAW) labor union voted to divest all UAW funds — $400,000 — from Israel Bonds, becoming the first major national labor union to divest.
“All the groundwork that JVP is doing helped change the national consensus around this,” said Brian Sullivan, member of UAW 2325. “I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say it might not have happened without that.”
After a series of divestment victories and campaign launches, the Development Corporation of Israel (the company that sells Israel Bonds) hired a full-time staffer based in New York whose only job is to undermine Break the Bonds campaigns. Our opposition is so scared of us, they’re directing paid staff to concentrate full-time on stopping our movement’s momentum and restoring Israel Bonds’ reputation.
We can’t let up the pressure now.
We didn’t get here overnight. These wins were the result of months and years of grassroots campaigning and strategic escalation — and they wouldn’t have been possible without the work of our movements to shift public opinion toward support for Palestine.
In the months after Israel launched its genocide in Gaza, our movement took to the streets to disrupt business as usual and demand an immediate ceasefire: from occupying Grand Central Station, to taking over the Statue of Liberty, to staging two historic sit-ins in the capitol rotunda. Together, we showed that a growing number of Jews oppose U.S. support for Israel and refuted the right’s narrative that to support Palestinians is to be antisemitic — and in doing so, we helped propel a sea change in U.S. public opinion.
Hundreds of U.S. cities would end up passing resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire, showing just how much public opinion was shifting towards support for Palestinians. But our movement knew it was not enough: We needed to hold the Israeli government materially accountable, which meant actually stopping the flow of U.S. dollars to Israel’s war chest.
That’s why in cities and towns across the country JVP chapters and local partners are fighting to force state governments and local institutions to divest their hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Israel Bonds holdings.
Building off the momentum of recent wins, JVP-Rhode Island spent months collecting over 10,000 signatures to bring divestment to the ballot in Providence. This November voters in Providence, Rhode Island will get to decide whether to divest an estimated $2.5 million of public funds from countries committing genocide, including Israel. Not the mayor, and not city council, but the people: the first legally-binding divestment vote in U.S. history.
This historic vote is the result of relentless, on-the-ground organizing by JVP-Rhode Island and local partners. If it succeeds, it will serve as a model for divestment campaigns all across the country.
We’ve gotten this far together, and one thing is clear: This is just the beginning of the fight for accountability for Israel’s crimes against Palestinians. With each campaign win, our momentum grows, we bring more people into collective action with us, and new cracks emerge in the U.S.-Israeli war machine.

Earlier this week, Macklemore was kicked off Ed Sheeran’s Loop tour, for which he had been opening. Zionists had been increasingly shrill in their demands that Macklemore be removed, for the crime of saying from the stage that Palestinians deserved to live. Finally, Robert Kraft — billionaire owner of the Patriots and friend to Trump — organized other stadium owners to issue an ultimatum to Sheeran: Keep Macklemore, and you will not play our venue.
Macklemore’s statement was an earthquake online, garnering 5 million views in the first 24 hours, and hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of shares. Within 24 hours, all Sheeran’s other openers quit in solidarity — and even his band, leaving the tour in shambles.
Amidst these latest stands of of solidarity with Palestinians, we are once again reminded that our movement stands on the right side of history, with tens and hundreds of millions desperate for an end to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Over 200 rabbis have endorsed the Block the Bombs Act, historic legislation that would suspend the shipment of the most lethal U.S. weapons to Israel.
“In this season when Jews reflect and remember our sacred values and blow the shofar of awakening, we urge Congress to reject its participation in these assaults by passing the Block the Bombs Act.”
