The largest ever Jewish protest in solidarity with Palestinians.

Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow organize the largest ever Jewish-led protest in solidarity with Palestinians. As 500 Jews stage a sit-in inside a key Capitol building to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, thousands rally outside, shutting down the street outside the offices of members of Congress for several hours. Hundreds are arrested.

The rally and sit-in generate a flurry of mainstream media coverage, including in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and MSNBC.

As the Israeli military plunges Gaza into darkness — cutting off all internet access and cell service in the besieged enclave — thousands of Jews and allies hold a historic sit-in that shuts down New York City’s iconic Grand Central Station. Over 300 people are arrested.

JVP shuts down NYC’s Manhattan Bridge to demand a permanent ceasefire.

On November 27, a four-day “ceasefire” was extended for two days. The pause and its extension were no doubt the result of the extraordinary pressure being exerted by the movement for Palestinian liberation. But a “pause” in genocide is not enough.

That’s why JVP is keeping up the pressure. On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, 1,500 people led by JVP-NYC shut down New York City’s Manhattan Bridge on the busiest travel day of the year to demand a lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
