Jewish Voice for Peace statement on the election of Donald J. Trump for U.S. President

President-elect Donald Trump has consistently indicated that his administration will be against everything Jewish Voice for Peace fights for: equality, dignity and freedom for all peoples. Propelled into office by a wave of racist, sexist, hateful, anti-Muslim, anti-Jewish, anti-immigrant sentiment, the election of Donald Trump has held a mirror up to the United States, reflecting back to us hate, bigotry and disenfranchisement on a new and terrifying scale.

Today’s messages from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ambassador Ron Dermer called Donald Trump a “great friend of the Jewish people and of Israel.” Israeli education minister Naftali Bennett congratulated the new U.S. president, reveling in the end of U.S. talk about a peace process and a two-state solution. These are unconscionable responses, given both the anti-semitism that Trump’s campaign has encouraged and the blatant disregard for Palestinian rights.

Jewish Voice for Peace is committed to holding ourselves and the rest of the Jewish community accountable in this new era. We are committed to speaking out against white supremacy, anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant policies, anti-Jewish bigotry and all forms of racism.

We are committed to challenging policies of the new administration that will harm people here and around the world.

Specifically, we are committed to continuing our work for Palestinian human rights.

Boycott, divestment and sanctions are tools for peaceful resistance to state violence, discrimination and injustice. More than ever at this moment it is crucial that our local and federal governments uphold these political rights.

Back in the mid-90s, three young Jewish women realized they could no longer keep silent about Israel’s occupation – and decided to do something about it. Watch their story – our story – here.

Researching the American Israeli Alliance and Jewish Voice for Peace’s report reveals the extent of massive training programs between U.S. law enforcement and Israeli police, military, and the Shin Bet.

End the Deadly Exchange

When US law enforcement trade tactics with the Israeli police and military, Israel deepens its military occupation and the US heightens its violence of policing.

Booking.com: Tell the Truth

Days ago, Booking.com bowed to pro-Israel activists and started describing all of Jerusalem as a “city in Israel” – literally erasing Palestinian East Jerusalem. Let’s get Booking.com to tell the truth: East Jerusalem is occupied territory.

Senators: Investigate Israeli Violence!

No one should be killed for taking part in a peaceful protest. It’s up to us to call on progressive Senators to investigate Israel’s massacre in Gaza that killed over 100 Palestinians wounded 12,000 others.
