In the Jewish calendar, this Sunday marks Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish new year of trees! It is a time to celebrate the earth and the cycle of seasons and some draw in connections between the root causes of climate change, racism, Islamophobia, and occupation.

New Life is Rising

New life is rising.
In dark warm earth it unfolds.
Surging up through tangled roots.
eyes blinking in the widening light,
pulled by the inevitability of liberation.
New life is stirring.
Can’t you feel the blood coursing once more
through awakened hearts?
Can’t you see the crowd slowly gathering on street corners?
Don’t you hear the voices whispering
it’s time for the world
to be reborn anew?
New life is returning.
Sprouting through cracks in the concrete,
blooming out of villages long buried
and homes demolished.
Coming back to what was lost
but never truly forgotten.
Like the almond blossoms spreading across the hills;
like the olive trees standing steadfast in rocky soil,
new life is rising.
And soon, so very soon
the land will open its arms
to welcome you home.

Back in the mid-90s, three young Jewish women realized they could no longer keep silent about Israel’s occupation – and decided to do something about it. Watch their story – our story – here.

Researching the American Israeli Alliance and Jewish Voice for Peace’s report reveals the extent of massive training programs between U.S. law enforcement and Israeli police, military, and the Shin Bet.

End the Deadly Exchange

When US law enforcement trade tactics with the Israeli police and military, Israel deepens its military occupation and the US heightens its violence of policing. Tell the Truth

Days ago, bowed to pro-Israel activists and started describing all of Jerusalem as a “city in Israel” – literally erasing Palestinian East Jerusalem. Let’s get to tell the truth: East Jerusalem is occupied territory.

Senators: Investigate Israeli Violence!

No one should be killed for taking part in a peaceful protest. It’s up to us to call on progressive Senators to investigate Israel’s massacre in Gaza that killed over 100 Palestinians wounded 12,000 others.
