Hundreds of thousands of olives, date, and other trees have been uprooted. These trees and orchards are in many cases the only source of livelihood for hundreds of thousands of people.  Many had invested their savings to develop and improve family farms, only to see them destroyed by Israeli army bulldozers. NPR's Marketplace reported on the heavy reliance by Palestinian farmers on the sale of fair trade organic olive oil to American friends.

The Jewish Voice for Peace chapters import and sell fair-trade Palestinian olive oil as available.  Proceeds from sales go to projects, such as the one to build a playground in the village of Tuwani in the West Bank.  You can support Palestinian farmers by purchasing olive oil.  See below for how to buy in your area.

In Boston:                                                                                                                        For olive oil in the Boston area, call 617-984-0532.  They have a pick up location.  Bottles are 750ml and cost $18.00 each.  A case of 12 bottles costs $195.00.  For bulk sales of more than 7 cases, contact palestinebostonoliveoil@yahoo.com.

In Chicago:
