 Jewish Voice for Peace organizes Jewish contingent
at historic June 10 March on
Washington to
end 40 years of
Israel’s military occupation

Thousands, including country’s largest anti-war coalition, demand U.S policy that supports a just peace between Palestinians and Israelis based on equality, human rights and international law

WHEN  Sunday, June 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. (participants begin assembling at 1 p.m.)

WHERE     West Lawn of the US Capitol, the Jewish contingent will be meeting to the left of the stage, next to the first aid station. (Go to www.jvp.org for link to map)

WHO      The march is being called by The US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, a national coalition of more than 250 organizations working to end U.S. support for Israel's military occupation, and United for Peace and Justice, the country's largest anti-war coalition with some 1,400 organizations. Jewish Voice for Peace, one of the country’s oldest and largest Jewish grassroots peace groups, will organize the Jewish contingent.

 WHY      This June marks the 40th anniversary of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights.

JVP Policy Director Mitchell Plitnick said, “
Israel’s occupation, settlements, bypass roads, land confiscations, tree and crop destruction, home demolitions, closures and barriers all combine to eliminate any possibility of building a stable Palestinian government and economy. That leads to chaos where no one can stop attacks on Israelis, and it leads to hunger, poor medical care and death, both by violence and disease, among Palestinians in horrifying numbers. The occupation makes progress toward resolving the conflict between Israel and her neighbors impossible.”

                Official march demands:
* An end to U.S. military, economic, diplomatic, and corporate support for Israel's illegal military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem.
* A change in
U.S. policy to one that supports a just peace between Palestinians and Israelis based on equality, human rights and international law, and the full implementation of all relevant UN resolutions.

Jewish Voice for Peace is a national grassroots organization dedicated to achieving a lasting peace that recognizes the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians for security and self-determination.
