Public Speaking

In March through May of 2010 a number of our members have been active in speaking at churches and colleges to receptive audiences.

Radio Interview

Lynn was interviewed on Radio Islam (broadcast on March 5 regarding Israel naming Islamic holy sites to the National Historic Registry and therefore under State control.

One Year of Operation Cast Lead

On December 27 we joined with groups throughout the world protesting the one year anniversary of operation Cast Lead.  Our weekly Vigil was modified to include a reading from our scroll of innocent victims.

Our turnout was good, in spite of the weather.  In fact, you can note Kathy Kelly at the left of the scroll.

AFSC Awards

On December 10, our own Lynn Pollack was honored for her work on Israel-Palestine with an "Inspire to Hope" award.  Atta way (note: this editor has personally known Lynn for over 30 years)

Tashlich 2009

Our Tashlich service for the sin of Occupation

On September 20, our Chapter had its own twist on the traditional Tashlich observance.  For those who don't know, this is a casting of sins away into the water.  Our own Joel led the ceremonies as we burnt our collective sins of the Occupation and cast them into the water.

You can almost read our sin

US Campaign

Several of JVP - Chicago members joined JVP members from through the country on September 12 and 13 to help shape the future of efforts to end the Occupation.  Thanks to everyone who gave up their weekend to participate.

JVP Chicago and Other Groups

Counter Protests

On August 9, 2009 we joined several other groups and individuals in a counter protest to the "Rally for Israel Against Rahm Emanuel and Obama's efforts to Divide Israel & Jerusalem."  The rally was sponsored by some mysterious right wing group"America's Independent Party", "Shalom International" with a web address of "defendjerusalem.net."  There were approximately 50 of us and 100 of them, though the police kept us very separate.  A sign stating that the Holocaust was on-going was indicative of the paranoia and racism.   The more lunatic supporters carried signs (see photo) "We 'heart' the Nakba" and wore a t-shirt "Road map this" pointing to his crotch.  We handed out the postcards addressed to Obama developed by the Bay Area Chapter.

Blind support of Israel wrapped in the Flag

Summer Fun

August 7 - 9 we participated in Arab World Fest in Milwaukee on beautiful Lake Michigan.  There was plenty  of music and good food; everyone participating had a good time.  Even more valuable, we received much support from attendees.
